About Alice Leng

Alice Leng is a British figurative painter, born in 1999 and based in Jersey, Channel Islands. She began her formal training at Winchester School of Art, where she completed a degree in Fine Art. She went on to study at Charles H. Cecil Studios in Florence, Italy for four years, seeking a stronger technical foundation in drawing and painting. There, she trained in the sight-size method, working directly from life, to scale and under natural light. Rooted in a centuries-old tradition of portrait painting, this approach has been used by artists including Sargent, Lawrence and Raeburn, and continues to underpin Alice’s work today. Alice now works from her studio in Jersey, undertaking commissioned portraits and paintings of animals.
